About the Production

Weighting the Wait is a community-built theatre work created through story circles with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and Open Theatre Project, curated by Dev Luthra. Through movement, language, and shared ritual, the piece gives voice to mothers confronting the loss of a child to gun violence — and to the power of community, forgiveness, and love that endures beyond death. This production resists despair. It invites courage, tenderness, and connection. It reminds us that we can’t face violence alone — we must face it together.

Why This Story Matters

We live in a world where violence feels constant and connection feels rare. Weighting the Wait dares to imagine something different: a circle of mothers standing in grief and hope, calling us to listen, to care, and to act. It’s not just a play — it’s a model for how communities can resist despair and rebuild through love.

Community & Collaboration

This production is built in partnership with the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute, an organization that supports survivors of homicide and promotes peace, justice, and healing in Boston. Together, we honor real stories, real people, and real resilience — building bridges between art, activism, and community care.
