29th Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace

The Mother’s Day Walk for Peace is the flagship fundraiser of the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. Walk with us to honor the lives of our loved ones taken by violence. Join a team, start one of your own, and help us reach our goal of $600,000 to support survivors of homicide victims, youth in our Generation Peace programs, and healing initiatives in communities impacted by murder, trauma, grief and loss.

This support group provides a welcoming, non-judgmental, and safe healing environment for Cabo Verdean survivors of homicide victims to come together in fellowship, share experiences, nd connect with organizations that offer resources and support. Food will be served.

Blossoming Flower Pot 3D Healing Workshop

Join us for an afternoon of connection and creativity led by artist and survivor, Alexis Smith! We will create uplifting individual 3D art pieces using flower pots to celebrate life and new growth as we remember our Loved Ones.
RSVP required as supplies will be limited. You are invited to send photos of your Loved one with your RSVP to be printed ahead of time and used in the beautiful piece of art you create to bring home with you. This is a family friendly event, all ages are welcome!

Unsolved Homicide Ambassadors Gathering

The Unsolved Homicide Ambassadors meet once a month to build connection and create collaborative action around their unsolved cases, in pursuit of justice.
This is a space for Survivors whose Loved Ones’ cases are over ten years old and are now considered “Cold Cases”. Food will be served.

Writing to Heal

We are excited to welcome back Dev Luthra, and invite you to join us in trying on writing as a tool to guide healing.
Dev has partnered with the Peace Institute through his work with the Open Theatre Project and created beautiful spaces for connection and healing in our previous Writing to Heal workshops. In this space, Dev will provide tools and prompts to support Survivors in exploring writing as a tool for healing.

MDW4P Flyering Day

Engage the local businesses along the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace route as we get excited to walk this year! We’ll be walking along the route, talking with businesses, putting flyers up in their windows, and gathering together in community.
2nd Annual MDW4P Community Kickoff & Day Party

Join the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and get the community excited and united for the 29th Annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace! This will be a fun party filled with food, music, dancing, raffles, and much more.
This is a child friendly event. Please note this is a fragrance free space.
Men’s Bond-Fire

Men’s Bond-Fire is a safe and supportive space for men who have been impacted by social issues, such as incarceration, murder, trauma, grief and loss. Connect, eat and bond over the flames as a means to stimulate peace, hope and wholeness. Food will be provided.
